Some models just command attention — and the Oni Samurai, sculpted by @dpaula3d and published by CA Studios, had us hooked the moment we saw it.
Why We Chose This Model
We’re always on the lookout for sculpts that tell a story, and this one delivers. The pose, the flowing ornate kimono, the twin horns, crimson gaze, combine elegance and menace in a way that’s hard to ignore. It was a no-brainer for our collection.
Printing & Assembly
We’ve printed this model with our usual HD premium resin, currently testing both 1/6th and 1/9th scale. The larger scale really shows off the intricate sculpting, but the 1/9th version holds up beautifully for display too.
The print was clean and well-separated — supports came off easily, and assembly was straightforward. We always appreciate when an artist considers the user experience, and this one was clearly built with care.
Painting Process (WIP)
We’re midway through painting a scaled up version of the original 1/6th model, leaning into a color scheme that highlights the character’s darker tones — deep reds, muted blues, and weathered metals. There’s a great contrast between the raven-adorned robes to the gnarled tree base that spirals with supernatural grace, making it a fun challenge to bring to life.
We’ll share progress and the final result on Instagram soon, so keep an eye out there.
Now Available as a Model Kit
We’re adding this Oni Samurai to the store as a Model Kit, available in both 1/6th and 1/9th scale. It’s perfect for painters, collectors, or anyone looking for a striking display piece.
